Today, 9/09/2021 Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday passed the Value Added Tax Bill, with Speaker Mudashiru Obasa directing the Acting Clerk of the House, Mr. Olalekan Onafeko, to transmit a clean copy to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for assent. The House also passed the bill that prohibits open cattle grazing in the state. The two bills were passed after unanimous votes by the lawmakers at the sitting where the bills were read the third time. Immediately after their passage, Speaker Obasa commended his colleagues for their passion to see that the state continues to grow. “I thank you all for this historic exercise,” Obasa said. The House had held separate public hearings on the bills on Wednesday, with stakeholders expressing support.

Fresh Abacha Loot Coming Fresh $319m Abacha loot in UK, France – US Published May 7, 2020             ‌ Eniola Akinkuotu, Abuja Barely a week after helping to repatriate $311m (N118bn) stolen by the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, the United States says there is a separate $319m (N121bn) Abacha loot in the United Kingdom and France. 51 COVID-19 patients in South Korea retest positive after recovery About Fifty-one persons in South Korea have reportedly tested positive again for COVID-19 after they had recovered and been discharged from quarantine. The patients, from the city of Daegu, were said to have been placed in quarantine after being diagnosed with the virus. Days after being released from quarantine they then tested positive. Xinhua, China’s official state-run press agency, quoted Korea’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) on Monday, as saying that the virus was likely “reactivated”, rather than patients becoming re-infected. As a result of this, the KCDC has concluded plans to send a team of investigators to Daegu, the country’s worst hit region, to conduct an epidemiological investigation into the cases.
